Der Badeort wird von zahlreichen Hochhausbauten, in der Regel Hotels, dominiert. Er liegt auf einer Halbinsel und wird von 40 km feinsandigen Strand umgeben. Die Einwohnerzahl von etwa 10.000 verzehnfacht sich in der viermonatigen Hauptreisesaison von Mitte November bis Mitte März. Insgesamt besuchen jährlich zwischen 600.000 und 700.000 Touristen die Stadt.
